One of the most focused, yet free to go with the flow, kind of a film-maker, Pier-Philippe Chevigny, has been a rising part of the industry. It has been over ten years that he has entered into film-making, though always been a film lover and passionate about his ideas. One of his recent and most applauded work is the short film Rebel(2019).

Biography

Pier-Philippe Chevigny, is a young filmmaker, editor, and social activist, belonging to Montreal, Quebec. For the past few years his shorts, namely Tala(2013) and Veterane(2017) have been gaining huge popularity all over the globe, making to various film festivals, while Rebel(2019) has been a greater hit, has also won several awards, along with the Oscar-qualifying award in Tirana.

Personal background

Chevigny, belongs to the countryside town of Quebec, with his father working as a rancher on movies, and himself becoming more aware of the film industry, since childhood. His family, though not much educated, had always been politically advocating, hence also leading Pier towards working for social causes and developing an interest in both social activism and the movie industry.

Career inspiration

His enthusiasm and work motivation is derived, from daily life social or political issues, which affect the lives of common people. He considers it to be his basic responsibility, to look into sensitive issues that deal with people’s emotions and lives, highlighting them to draw attention for more discussions and contests.

Mode of work

His mode of work involves the combination of social activism and movie making, into a phenomenon that impacts people’s lives, positively. He has recently spoken in his interview with the Spotlight series, that he makes research into the events first, and then makes his own fictional story, based upon the true events. His scripts are later made more interesting with the add-ons of suspense, thrill, and vehemence.

It is going to be Chevigny’s first feature film, while he is also working on the script of another feature, Arsenal.
